I want to like this movie, I really do. But there’s some nagging inkling in the back of my mind that tells me time travel, Tommy Lee Jones’ voice dubbed over Josh Brolin’s poorly CGI-manipulated lips, and a not highly anticipated series of contrived “black man wearing a suit in the segregated United States of 1960s,” jokes will be the surefire formula for asininity.
But hey I’ve been wrong before. The movie stars, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, of course, as well as Rip Torn as Agent Zed, Josh Brolin as a younger Tommy Lee, and Nicole Scherzinger in what will surely be a riveting and shoe-in for Golden Globe Award for best actress type performance. Just kidding, she’s got big titties. (Damn, I missed my chance to make a “Yeah, the Golden Globes in HER BRA!” joke.) So in the end, I say… who knows, it could be fun. Just know I’m tempering my expectations.
Fun fact: In the comic book series Men in Black upon which the movie series is based, the MIB didn’t use those memory erasing doohickeys. Instead… they straight up murdered the witness’ unwitting asses. There we go. Rogue MiB agent, Will Smith has to hunt him down. Let’s take the series in this direction, fellas.
